Hello everyone,
We wanted to write you all to say a very big thank you to all the
teams that came out on Saturday, June 14th and helped make the Ottawa
edition of the Motrin IB Canadian Beach Dodgeball Championships such
an amazing event. We hope that you all enjoyed yourselves and that
everyone was able to play in some competitive matches. We would also
like to take this time to acknowledge the championship teams from the
day.
The preliminary round was extremely close with lots of competitive
games from start to finish. Eventually, though, the tournament was
divided into 2 separate single elimination playoff brackets with the
top teams in each division earning the right to compete for cash
prizes and the lower seeded teams set to compete for other tournament
prizes.
In the consolation bracket, the final four came down to The Cunning
Stunts, carwhitten, Watch the Face and BALLS OF FURY! After a couple
of great semi final games the final match saw The Cunning Stunts
defeat Watch the Face in a very entertaining series final.
Congratulations Cunning Stunts!
The money bracket was also extremely competitive, as there were a
number of teams that fought hard to get themselves into the money
rounds. Losing out in the first of the money rounds, but earning a
very respectable tie for 5th place and taking home a well earned $163
was; Dodge Duck Dip Dive, Dodge-O-Bots, Master Blaster’s and the
reigning, 3-time, Toronto Beach Dodgeball Champs, Manifest Destiny.
The conclusion of these matches also meant that the final four had
been determined.
The semi finals saw the Badass Dodgeballer’s face off against The
Drinking Team with a Dodgeball Problem and Hoof Hearted went head to
head with Spencer’s Army. Both of these matches were extremely
intense and hard fought, right down to the finish. Eventually,
though, Badass Dodgeballer’s and Spencer’s Army earned the right to
compete for the top prize. Congratulations to The Drinking Team with
a Dodgeball Problem and Hoof hearted for a great tournament and for
taking home $325 each for finishing in a tie for 3rd place overall.
The championship game was extremely close, with the two teams
exchanging wins over the first few matches. Eventually, though, the
hometown favourites, Spencer’s Army, took control of the momentum and
claimed the first ever Ottawa Beach Dodgeball Championship by
defeating one of Toronto’s top Dodgeball teams: Congratulations to
Spencer’s Army for winning the $1,300 cash prize. Congratulation’s
also goes out to Badass Dodgeballer’s for a great tournament and for
earning the second place prize of $650.
Please note that all 5th place prizes will be distributed in the form
of a refund. This means that the full dollar amount will be refunded
directly on to the same credit card that paid for their team’s
tournament fees. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes, however, will in
fact be mailed out.

Thank you once again to all the teams that came out on Saturday and
helped make the Ottawa Beach Dodgeball Championships such a great
event. A special thank you goes out to the teams from Toronto that
made the long trip to Ottawa this weekend. We really hope that some
of the Ottawa teams will do the same by coming down to Toronto for
our championship tournament on Saturday, July 19th, which will be
held at the Docks.
