Hello everyone!
I just wanted to write you all to say a very sincere thank you to all
teams that came out on Saturday, March 29th and helped make the
Motrin IB Canadian Beach Dodgeball Championships such a great success
last weekend. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and that you were all
able to play in some competitive matches. I would also like to take
this time to acknowledge the championship teams from the day.
The preliminary round was extremely close with lots of competitive
games from start to finish. Eventually, though, the tournament was
divided into 2 separate single elimination playoff brackets with the
top teams in each division earning the right to compete for cash
prizes and the lower seeded teams set to compete for other tournament
prizes.
In the consolation bracket, the final four came down to Booya, All
About the Head, the Tyrannical Teabaggers and Sweaty Balls. After a
couple of great semi final games the final match saw the Tyrannical
Teabaggers defeat All About the Head in a very entertaining final.
Congratulations Teabaggers!
The money bracket was extremely competitive, as there were a number
of teams that fought hard to get themselves into the money rounds.
After two grueling rounds, the elite eight was determined and the
money round began. Losing out in the first of the money rounds, but
earning a very respectable tie for 5th place and taking home a well
earned $215 was; The Pylons, Dodge-o-Bots, Money Shots, and G-String
Cowboys. The conclusion of these matches also meant that the final
four had been determined.
Dude Soup then faced off against the Deca-pitators and Gotta Want It
faced off against The Dream Team. Both of these matches were
extremely intense and hard fought, right down to the finish.
Eventually, though, Dude Soup and Gotta Want It earned the right to
compete for the top prize. Congratulations to the Deca-pitators and
The Dream Team for a great tournament and for taking home $430 each
for finishing in 3rd place overall.
The championship game was much closer than the score might have
indicated, but in the end an old team with a new name took home their
second consecutive Indoor Beach Championship. Congratulations to Dude
Soup for winning the $1,720 cash prize. Congratulations to Gotta Want
It as well for a great tournament. They too were able to win a great
prize as they took home $860.
Thank you to all the teams that came out on March 29th and helped
make the Beach Dodgeball Championships such a great event.
