ENDBALL

This means...
S: Safe play all of the time. Play with control and be
conscious of your surroundings.
M: Members only. Anyone who plays on your team needs to be
listed on your roster. One off substitutes must be listed on your roster
or an active TCSSC roster..
A: Attend online info session and read rules every season. This
will keep you up to speed on new issues.
R: Report all injuries which require medical attention and
incidents if you desire official TCSSC investigation.
T: Talk to the other team. Together, TCSSC members can make
a fun and safe playing environment.
It is the responsibility of both team captains/co-captains to submit
their scores and spirit scores for league online through the T.E.A.M.
System by 5:00 p.m. the day following their game.
Please click here for detailed information on how to report scores.
1. Equipment/Set-Up: Equipment will be provided

2. Game Time/Default:
- Please arrive 15 minutes early so that you can start your games on
time.
- Games are comprised of two (2) 40-minute halves with a 5-minute
half time.
- Please agree on one person to act as timekeeper.
- Teams are comprised of six (6) players with a minimum of two (2) of
each gender. A default will occur if any team cannot field a squad by
15 minutes after the official start time. A team can play with a
minimum of 5 people, as long as two (2) of the players are women and
two (2) are men.
- Captains may agree to waive the rules regarding minimum people but
this should be decided before the game starts. IF IT IS AGREED THAT THE
GAME COUNTS, IT COUNTS!

3. General Rules:
i. Games begin with a “smash” ball, where the
football is bounced on the ground between the two teams at centre field.
(similar to a jump ball, but the ball is thrown towards the ground,
instead of up in the air).
ii. The team that wins the smash ball (by catching
it or picking it up off the ground) is in control as the offensive team.
Their goal is to advance the ball down the field with consecutive passes
amongst teammates to score in the oppositions’ end zone. However, if the
ball hits the ground (for any reason), the result is a turnover, and the
defensive team becomes the offensive team from the point at which they
pick up the ball.
iii. A person in possession of the ball can run in
any direction, forwards or backwards. This person can also make a kick
pass or hand pass to any teammate at any time, forwards or backwards.
iv. If the ball carrier is touched by a defensive
player (with at least one hand), the ball carrier is no longer allowed to
advance the ball forward by running or throwing. Instead, the tagged ball
carrier must immediately make a backwards pass to another teammate. NOTE:
The act of tagging the ball carrier does not result in a turnover – this
simply prevents any further forward momentum of the ball. To ensure that
the ball carrier releases the ball quickly, the defender can count to 3
out loud after tagging that player. If 3 is reached, and the ball carrier
still has not released the ball, it is a turnover.
v. If the ball carrier releases the ball (in an
attempt to make a pass to a teammate) prior to being tagged, play
continues. To limit the forward progression of a team, the defensive team
must tag the ball carrier PRIOR to that player making a pass.
vi. Discrepancies as to whether the ball carrier was
tagged or not will be settled by the opinion of the defensive player
directly involved in the play. Similarly, discrepancies that arise as to
whether the ball carrier had released the ball prior to being tagged or
not will be settled by the opinion of the defensive player directly
involved in the play. It is expected that defensive players will do
their best to make fair calls.
vii. If a ball is thrown/kicked or bounces out of
bounds, play will be resumed by the new offensive team making a pass from
the point at which the ball left the playing field (sideline or goal
line). If a pass is dropped in the end zone, the new offensive team can
carry the ball to their goal line and restart play from that point.
viii. The offensive team scores 1 point by making a
successful THROW pass (any pass using hands) to a teammate in the end
zone. The offensive team scores 2 points by making a successful KICK
pass (any pass using a foot) to a teammate in the end zone.
ix. Play will restart with another smash ball at
centre field after each score.
x. Offensive players may not block or otherwise
obstruct any defensive players
xi. Substitutions can occur between points.

4. Rough Play: ANY ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN
IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM FURTHER LEAGUE PLAY AND MAY RESULT IN LIFETIME
LEAGUE EXPULSION. PLEASE SEE THE TCSSC POLICY SHEET FOR OUR OFFICIAL
POLICY ON THIS SUBJECT. It is recognized that incidental contact between
players is inevitable – however, all players should go out of their way
to avoid creating an unsafe play. This rule supersedes all others.
