3. General Rules:
i. This game is a combination of soccer (kicking the ball with your
feet) and handball (making passes and throws with your hands).
ii. Soccer Mode: Whenever a ball touches the floor, the game will
be in soccer mode. This means that players can kick the ball, making
passes and taking shots with their feet. Most of the regular soccer rules
will apply.
iii. Handball Mode: Whenever a player catches the ball in their
hands, the game will be in handball mode. This may occur if a player
catches a ball that has been kicked up in the air by an opponent or a
teammate or by him/herself. NOTE: a player can never pick up a ball from
the floor with their hands, but they can catch any airborne ball where
the ball’s last point of contact was a wall or a foot. Game play will
continue in handball mode until the ball hits ground.
iv. The game begins with a jump ball (like in basketball). If the
ball is caught in the air by any player, the game will commence in
handball mode.
v. When in handball mode, the ball carrier cannot run with the
ball. Instead, after making a catch, the ball carrier can take a maximum
of 2 step with the ball, after which time they must shoot or pass the
ball.
vi. After a player has taken their steps, they have 3 "stalls" (like
"steamboats") to either pass or shoot the ball. Only the defensive
player covering the person with the ball may call the stalls and they
must be within 3 feet of the person they are counting stalls on. Stalls
must be counted out loud "Stall 1, stall 2, stall 3”, and only when the
offensive person is not taking steps. If the ball is not released by the
"3" of "stall 3"; the ball is turned over to the defensive team at that
spot.
vii. The offensive team scores 1 point by scoring a goal in
handball mode. The offensive team scores 2 points by scoring a goal in
soccer mode.
viii. After a goal, play will restart with the other team initiating
play from the centre of the gym.
ix. Substitutions can occur at any time.

4. Rough Play: ANY ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN
IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM FURTHER LEAGUE PLAY AND MAY RESULT IN LIFETIME
LEAGUE EXPULSION. PLEASE SEE THE TCSSC POLICY SHEET FOR OUR OFFICIAL
POLICY ON THIS SUBJECT. It is recognized that incidental contact between
players is inevitable – however, all players should go out of their way
to avoid creating an unsafe play. This rule supersedes all others.
